One of the first, and certainly one of the most iconic, muscle cars was the Pontiac GTO. Introduced in 1964, the GTO kicked off the muscle car wars in style. First available as an option package for the Pontiac LeMans, the GTO became a nameplate to itself in 1966 and became Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" in 1968. The second generation, built between 1968 and 1972, is perhaps the most recognizable vehicles of the era, with its semi-fastback styling, concealed headlights and dual hood scoops. This generation also featured the GTO's most powerful engine, a 7.5-liter V8 monster that could generate 370 horsepower. Time for this classic to make a classic comeback!
