During all these years, Severus Snape was consumed by his love for Lily Potter and did not have any other close relationships. No one else knew him as a friend, son, husband, parent or mentor. He did not have any other close relationships and his life continued to revolve around his love for Lily, even after her death.

Remus Lupin was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts teacher, and a werewolf. Shortly before Remus Lupin's fifth birthday, Fenrir Greyback attacked him. The child survived; however, henceforth, Remus would be a fully fledged werewolf.

As Harry's father, James Potter has a big influence on all books, especially because Harry looks exactly like him - except for his eyes, of course. As a teenager, James was a bit cocky, arrogant, and even cruel, but as he gets older, he gets wiser and more compassionate. Since he was the only child of an extremely wealthy pure-blood family, had a brilliant mind, and was an excellent Quidditch player, it's not surprising that he had a remarkable ego as well.

According to the final book, Colin Creevey was killed by Death Eaters in the final Battle of Hogwarts. He was the youngest victim of the Battle at Hogwarts.

The Malfoy name comes from old French. It means 'bad faith'. Peter Pettigrew was a loyal follower of Voldemort and also an Animagus, being a rat in every sense of the word. This unpopular, weak, and magically mediocre Hogwarts student was almost always referred to by his nickname, "Wormtail", and was a friend of James Potter at Hogwarts.

A talented Muggle-born witch, Lily Potter was murdered by Voldemort during the First Wizarding War while she was protecting her child. She is one of the most tragic characters in the Harry Potter series, as well as one of the most heroic.

Hermione was always the ultimate female role model in the Harry Potter Universe. Everyone adored Hermione, but there one character who deserves even more admiration: the fiery Ginny Weasley. The Daily Prophet journalist, who Dumbledore had banned from Hogwarts grounds, managed to find her way back in by changing into her illegal Animagus form: that of a nasty little beetle. This form is perfect for a journalist who scuttles merrily over the misfortune of others and feeds on trash, writing stories based mostly on false information.

Argus Filch is one of those brilliant characters in "Harry Potter" who lost a lot in the translation from page to screen. He is a devoted servant to the school, and a surprisingly sad character in many ways - lonely, unhappy, and essentially a wizard-born Muggle, who is looked upon with a degree of disdain by some witches and wizards, particularly pure-bloods.

Moaning Myrtle, an annoying, always upset and unhappy Hogwarts ghost, primarily haunts the girls' bathroom in which she was killed by school mate Tom Riddle's basilisk. She whines, mopes and gets upset easily, but she can also be mean and often takes pleasure in others' discomfort.

The father to seven children, hard-working man, great husband, loyal friend, and Blood Traitor, Arthur Weasley was always fascinated by, and with, Muggles and their inventions. His character provides humor in the books, a contrast to the politicians around him, care for Harry and a glimpse of typical, "normal" family life in the wizarding world.

Sirius Black is an old friend of James and Lily Potter and Harry's Animagus godfather who escaped from Azkaban. Perhaps no students have ever explored Hogwarts as thoroughly as the four best friends, creators, and contributors to the Marauder's Map: James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew.

Firenze is a centaur with white-blond hair, palomino body, and blue eyes. He trusts humans more than the rest of the centaurs; from 1996-1998, he was a Divination teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before, he lived with his colony in the Forbidden Forest, on the borders of Hogwarts in Scotland.

Tom Marvolo Riddle was always trouble. First in the asylum and later in Hogwarts, the troubled young wizard with an affinity for the Dark Arts and manipulation, loved to hurt people. From the very young age, he thought he was special. He later became the most powerful Dark wizard of all time.

Percy is two years older than Fred and George and sticks out like a sore thumb in the Weasley family. He is bookish and without the natural charisma of the siblings ahead or behind him.
