The son of Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy, Draco Malfoy grew up as an only child at Malfoy Manor, the magnificent mansion that had been in his pure blood wizard family's possession for many centuries. Hermione Granger went from bookish, lonely, and naive Muggle-born to one of Gryffindor's bravest during her years in Hogwarts. Even though she is a top-notch witch, a loyal friend, and a strong advocate for good over evil, Hermione has broken the law so many times, she is lucky she never got arrested or sent to prison.
Gryffindor house is home to Nearly Headless Nick, the Hogwarts ghost who in life was Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington. According to the article J.K. Hogwarts Potions master, Severus Snape is a son of Tobias Snape (Muggle) and Eileen Snape (witch, née Prince). He is extremely skilled at potions and Occlumency. During all these years, Severus Snape was consumed by his love for Lily Potter and did not have any other close relationships. No one else knew him as a friend, son, husband, parent or mentor. He did not have any other close relationships and his life continued to revolve around his love for Lily, even after her death.

Remus Lupin was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, Hogwarts teacher, and a werewolf. Shortly before Remus Lupin's fifth birthday, Fenrir Greyback attacked him. The child survived; however, henceforth, Remus would be a fully fledged werewolf.
When asked how she came up with the name for Minerva McGonagall, J.K. Rowling explains that Minerva was the Roman goddess of warriors and wisdom but there was also William McGonagall, well-known for being the worst poet in British history. There was something irresistible to the author about his name, and the idea that such a brilliant woman might be a distant relative of the ridiculous McGonagall.
The family of Ollivander has long been associated with the mysterious profession of wandcraft. They say that this name means 'he who owns the olive wand'.

Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody is a highly accomplished Auror (dark wizard hunter) from the family of Aurors, an outstanding duellist, also skilled in non-verbal magic. Alastor was hired by Albus Dumbledore to be Defense Against the Dark Arts professor during Harry Potter's fourth year at Hogwarts.
Aragog, the scary giant spider from the Forbidden Forest, is only loyal to Rubeus Hagrid. Aragog has a black and grey hairy body, and eight milky white eyes.
One of best fan theories is that Neville Longbottom was the real chosen one and Lord Voldemort just made a mistake when he chose Harry. A lot of people think that perhaps the entire book series has been following the "wrong†person and here's why: Remember that moment in the end when Harry tired to kill Voldemort and fail? And just when all hope seemed lost, Neville would rose from the dust and perform the heroic act. There is even a fan fiction, written by Tumblr user ink-splotch, that explores what the world of Harry Potter would've looked like if Voldemort had chosen to mark Neville as his opponent instead. This long, exciting story makes huge changes to each book.

Dolores's time at Hogwarts ended disastrously because she overreached the remit Fudge had given her, stepping outside the bounds of her own authority. Shaken, but still fanatic about her job after a catastrophic end to her Hogwarts career, she returned to a Ministry of Magic. According to J.K. The Sorting Hat is truly one of the cleverest enchanted objects you see in Hogwarts: it contains the intelligence of the four founders, can speak, and is skilled at Legilimency.
Vain, arrogant, and selfish, Gilderoy Lockhart had never been a bad wizard, only a lazy one. After Hogwarts, he had decided to hone his talents in one direction: Memory Charms. By perfecting this tricky spell, he had succeeded in modifying the recollections of highly accomplished and brave witches and wizards, allowing him to take credit for their achievements.

The editor of The Quibbler, Xenophilius Lovegood, is knowledgeable on a wide array of magical items and creatures that other witches and wizards don't know a lot about (or just don't believe exist).
A lot of HP fans believe that Bellatrix Lestrange was secretly in love with her Master, or even was his mistress at some point. One of Voldemort's most devout followers, Bellatrix gets some of the scariest scenes in the books and movies. One of the Lord Voldemort's most loyal servants and one of his Horcruxes, Nagini is an unusual snake. She murdered a lot of people including, Severus Snape, and was killed by Neville Longbottom with the Sword of Gryffindor.
As Harry's father, James Potter has a big influence on all books, especially because Harry looks exactly like him - except for his eyes, of course. As a teenager, James was a bit cocky, arrogant, and even cruel, but as he gets older, he gets wiser and more compassionate. Since he was the only child of an extremely wealthy pure-blood family, had a brilliant mind, and was an excellent Quidditch player, it's not surprising that he had a remarkable ego as well.
According to the final book, Colin Creevey was killed by Death Eaters in the final Battle of Hogwarts. He was the youngest victim of the Battle at Hogwarts.

The Malfoy name comes from old French. It means 'bad faith'. Lucius Malfoy achieved notoriety as one of Lord Voldemort's Death Eaters, though he successfully avoided prison twice after Lord Voldemort's attempted coups. On the first occasion, he claimed to have been acting under the Imperius Curse; on the second, he provided evidence against fellow Death Eaters and helped to find many of Lord Voldemort's followers who were hiding.

Mrs Weasley is a remarkable character in the Harry Potter universe. She's the strong-willed, brave, and caring mother of seven children who welcomes Harry into The Burrow as though he were one of her own kids.
Like his wife Petunia, Vernon Dursley detested magic and anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Naturally, he hated Harry, who was very much a symbol of both for him. Barty's escape remained undiscovered because Bartemius' wife took his place very quickly dying in Azkaban.

Peter Pettigrew was a loyal follower of Voldemort and also an Animagus, being a rat in every sense of the word. This unpopular, weak, and magically mediocre Hogwarts student was almost always referred to by his nickname, "Wormtail", and was a friend of James Potter at Hogwarts.
A talented Muggle-born witch, Lily Potter was murdered by Voldemort during the First Wizarding War while she was protecting her child. She is one of the most tragic characters in the Harry Potter series, as well as one of the most heroic.
Hermione was always the ultimate female role model in the Harry Potter Universe. Everyone adored Hermione, but there one character who deserves even more admiration: the fiery Ginny Weasley. At the beginning of the story, she is just a shy 10-year-old who's dying to go to Hogwarts, and who has a crush on the Boy Who Lived. Yaxley is one of the "Sacred Twenty-Eight": according to the author of the Pure-Blood Directory, there are only twenty-eight British families that were still "truly pure-blood." Death Eater Corban Yaxley is the former head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement who got there when Lord Voldemort was in control of the Ministry of Magic.
Slytherin is not all about snakes, snark and cynicism, because there also was Horace Slughorn. Slughorn was a complex character from the very beginning: you can be never quite sure what you are getting with the former Head of Slytherin.
Fenrir Greyback is a mean, cruel, savage werewolf and loyal Voldemort supporter who attacks children just for fun. A leader in his community, he tried to infect as many people as possible with lycanthropy, one day hoping to build an army strong enough to take over the wizarding world.

The Daily Prophet journalist, who Dumbledore had banned from Hogwarts grounds, managed to find her way back in by changing into her illegal Animagus form: that of a nasty little beetle. This form is perfect for a journalist who scuttles merrily over the misfortune of others and feeds on trash, writing stories based mostly on false information.
Argus Filch is one of those brilliant characters in "Harry Potter" who lost a lot in the translation from page to screen. He is a devoted servant to the school, and a surprisingly sad character in many ways - lonely, unhappy, and essentially a wizard-born Muggle, who is looked upon with a degree of disdain by some witches and wizards, particularly pure-bloods.
Moaning Myrtle, an annoying, always upset and unhappy Hogwarts ghost, primarily haunts the girls' bathroom in which she was killed by school mate Tom Riddle's basilisk. She whines, mopes and gets upset easily, but she can also be mean and often takes pleasure in others' discomfort.

The father to seven children, hard-working man, great husband, loyal friend, and Blood Traitor, Arthur Weasley was always fascinated by, and with, Muggles and their inventions. His character provides humor in the books, a contrast to the politicians around him, care for Harry and a glimpse of typical, "normal" family life in the wizarding world.
Sirius Black is an old friend of James and Lily Potter and Harry's Animagus godfather who escaped from Azkaban. Perhaps no students have ever explored Hogwarts as thoroughly as the four best friends, creators, and contributors to the Marauder's Map: James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew.

Firenze is a centaur with white-blond hair, palomino body, and blue eyes. He trusts humans more than the rest of the centaurs; from 1996-1998, he was a Divination teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Before, he lived with his colony in the Forbidden Forest, on the borders of Hogwarts in Scotland.
Tom Marvolo Riddle was always trouble. First in the asylum and later in Hogwarts, the troubled young wizard with an affinity for the Dark Arts and manipulation, loved to hurt people. From the very young age, he thought he was special. He later became the most powerful Dark wizard of all time.
Percy is two years older than Fred and George and sticks out like a sore thumb in the Weasley family. He is bookish and without the natural charisma of the siblings ahead or behind him.
