"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was a WB television series that ran from 1997 to 2003. The show starred Sarah Michelle Gellar as the title character, Buffy Summers. The character of Buffy herself was a high school student who discovers that she is one of a long line of vampire slayers. Fortunately for Buffy, she doesn't have to go it alone, but gets help from a variety of human and non human sidekicks.
The show also featured Anthony Stewart Head as Rupert Giles, Buffy's "watcher," her primary caretaker; Allyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg, Buffy's friend; and Nicholas Brendan as Xander Harris, Buffy's other high school buddy. The show also featured David Boreanaz, as a reformed vampire named Angel and a love interest for Buffy. Boreanaz also starred in "Charmed" and the ever-popular series, "Bones." Angel became a spin-off of Buffy after the character moved to the West Coast to give Buffy a chance at a normal life. James Marsters had the role of Spike for 97 episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and afterwards for 24 episodes on the spin-off series, "Angel." The character was well-known for his platinum-blond hair and black leather duster.
Charisma Carpenter had the main character role of Cordelia Chase in 57 episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and an additional 90 episodes in its spin-off series, "Angel." Several years later, Carpenter took on the supporting role of Lacy in "The Expendables" and "The Expendables 2."
Angel started out as a recurring character on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He took on a main role for seasons 2 and 3, becoming so popular that the spin-off series, "Angel," was created. The character, portrayed by David Boreanaz, then went back to recurring status for the remainder of "Buffy."

Nicholas Brendon portrays Alexander LaVelle Harris (better known as Xander) on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Although he is Buffy's close friend and a member of the Scooby Gang (or Scoobies), he has no supernatural powers.

For seasons 4 and 5, Riley Finn is a main character and Buffy's love interest. Riley is a military operative with medically enhanced powers. He is portrayed by 6' 2†tall actor Marc Blucas, who was a star basketball player in high school.
The character Faith appears in seasons 3, 4 and 7 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Actress Eliza Dushku, who played the role of Faith, has been featured on several "Sexiest Women†lists, with "Maxim" ranking her at 13th in 2002.
Rupert Giles, played by Anthony Stewart Head, appeared in 123 episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He is a member of the Watchers' Council and a trainer of Slayers who takes on a fatherly role for Buffy and her friends.

Winifred "Fred" Burkle is one of the main characters of the "Angel" series. Although Fred is not a part of Buffy's Scooby Gang, she is portrayed by actress Amy Acker, who did voice acting on the "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" animated series.

Sarah Michelle Gellar played the part of Buffy Anne Summers from 1997 - 2003 in the TV series. It was Kristy Swanson, however, who originally played the role in the 1992 "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" movie.
Irish actor Glenn Quinn portrayed half-demon Allen Francis Doyle in season one of "Angel," the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off series. Quinn died of a heroin overdose in 2002.
Emma Caulfield acts as Anya Jenkins in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." In the series finale Anya is killed in battle, having been sliced in half from behind by a sword.

As head of a gang of vampires on the UC Sunnydale campus, Sunday appeared in one episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "The Freshman.†The actress who portrayed Sunday, Katharine Towne, also had a minor part in the 1999 movie "She's All That,†in which Sarah Michelle Gellar had the uncredited role of Girl in Cafeteria.
Harry Groener plays the part of Mayor Richard Wilkins III. By extension, he is also acting as Mayor Richard Wilkins I and Mayor Richard Wilkins II, the mayor's previous identities in his 100-year role as Mayor Wilkins, the founder and mayor of the city of Sunnydale.
The Buffybot looks just like Buffy, but with subtle differences in speech and personality. When Buffy dies, the Buffybot is used to trick everyone into thinking she is still alive. Like Buffy, it is portrayed by Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Daniel "Danny" Strong is the actor who takes on the role of Jonathan Levinson in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As Jonathan, he appears in all but the first and fifth seasons. Strong also had a recurring role in "Gilmore Girls" as Doyle McMaster.
Floppy-eared, loose-skinned Clem is the generally harmless demon featured in seasons 6 and 7 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Clem, whose full name is Clement, is played by James C. Leary.
David Boreanaz is both Angel (Buffy's boyfriend who assists her with her work as a Slayer) and Angelus (the most feared vampire in history). The two characters are the same being, with Angelus portrayed as the ruthless, soulless side of his persona.

The hellgod Glorificus, popularly known as Glory, is searching for The Key (now embodied as Buffy's younger sister Dawn) in order to return to the dimension from which she has been banished. She is played by actress Clare Kramer.
Amber Benson is Tara Maclay, a witch, Scooby Gang member and love interest of Willow Rosenberg. It is Tara's death by a bullet meant for Buffy that pushes Willow to become Dark Willow.
Doc appears is season 5 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and is successful in tricking the lead characters into thinking he is a harmless elderly man. In reality, he is a reptilian demon who worships and works for the hellgod Glory. Doc is portrayed by actor Joel Grey.

The character played by Julia Lee is known as Joan Appleby, Sister Sunshine, Chantarelle, Lily and Anne on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." On the spin-off series "Angel," she is Anne Steele.
Illyria is played by the same actress who has the part of Winifred "Fred†Burkle. They appear on the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off series, "Angel." Fred is seen in seasons 3 to 5 and Illyria in season 5 when Fred is possessed by her.

A spell cast in season 3 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" turned Amy into a rat and caused her absence from season 5 of the series. It is the only season in which this good-girl-turned-bad-witch does not appear.
For 4 seasons and 35 episodes, Stephanie Romanov plays the recurring character of Lilah Morgan on "Angel," the spin-off series from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Lilah begins season 1 as a lawyer at Wolfram & Hart but by the time she is killed off by Jasmine, she is president of the firm's Special Projects Division.
Jenny Calendar is the alias of Janna Kalderash, a member of the clan which cursed Angel with the restoration of his soul. The actress who plays the part of Jenny is Robia LaMorte who was a dancer and spokesperson for the artist Prince.

After the previous principal is eaten alive by The Pack, R. Snyder (played by Armin Shimerman) takes on the role. Shimerman is known to many as Quark, the Ferengi bartender on the "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" TV series.
Kristine Sutherland has the role of Buffy's mom, Joyce Summers, in all 7 seasons of the show. Joyce dies (of natural causes) in season 5, but returns through supernatural means in the next 2 seasons.
During the 6th season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," Warren Mears was one of the season's trio of main villains. He is killed by Dark Willow but is resurrected by Amy Madison. The character is played by Adam Busch.

Young demon hunter Charles Gunn is a part of the "Angel" cast. J. August Richards who portrays Gunn, also appears in 9 episodes of the TV series "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
Harmony Kendall (played by Mercedes McNab) shares a particular honor with Angel (played by David Boreanaz). They are the only 2 characters to have appeared in both the first episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1997) and the final episode of its spin-off series, "Angel" (2004).

Halfrek and Anyanka are both vengeance demons who go by the names Hallie and Anya when they present themselves as human. Halfrek is played by actress Kali Rocha. Rocha went on to appear in 8 episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Sydney Heron.
The Master is the original "Big Bad†faced by the Scooby Gang in season 1 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." He is the oldest of all the known vampires and physically superior to them. The Master is portrayed by actor Mark Metcalf.
Throughout his appearances on "Angel," Lindsey McDonald finds himself in the dual role of enemy and ally to the title character. Lindsey is portrayed by Christian Kane, leader of the country-southern rock band, Kane. Their third album (2010) reached the number 25 spot on Billboard Country Albums chart.

Wesley Wyndam-Pryce appears in season 3 and is portrayed by Alexis Denisof. Although Wesley is in just 9 episodes of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," he appears in 101 episodes of its spin-off series, "Angel."
Appearing in the season 2 episode "Lie to Me,†Ford is a childhood friend of Buffy's and one on whom she had a crush. He is suffering from terminal brain cancer and wants to become a vampire in order to avoid death. Ford is played by Jason Behr.
