At the end of season seven, Daenerys is very much alive. She and Jon Snow teamed up to protect Westeros against the impending White Walker threat. They'll figure out who gets to sit on the Iron Throne later.

The patriarch of House Stark and an all-around good guy, is Eddard Stark dead or alive?

In the first season, fans thought they would be able to count on Ned Stark to be the moral compass of the show. Then, even though he'd promised mercy, King Joffrey executed Ned in front of all of King's Landing much to the horror of his bride-to-be, Sansa Stark. A daughter of Highgarden and the love of young Tommen's life, is Margaery Tyrell dead or alive?

Cersei Lannister and Margaery Tyrell were at odds from almost the beginning. But the situation reached a boiling point when Tommen chose Margaery over his mother. Instead of showing up for her trial before the High Sparrow, Cersei ignited a store of wildfire under the Sept of Baelor. Margaery was killed in the explosion.

That tricky Littlefinger, is Petyr Baelish dead or alive?

Littlefinger thought he was so smart, but in the end, he wasn't smart enough. Baelish thought he could turn Arya and Sansa against one another to his own benefit, but the sisters figured out his plan. As the Lady of Winterfell, Sansa ordered his execution. Arya carried it out.

Hardly ever seen without a cup of wine in his hand, is Tyrion Lannister dead or alive?

In an interesting turn of events, Daenerys named Tyrion her Hand of the Queen. When the two learned the North named Jon Snow their king, Tyrion advised his queen to make Jon her ally. At the end of season seven, Tyrion is working to convince his sister, Cersei, of the imminent threat the White Walkers pose.

She trained with the Faceless Men; is Arya Stark dead or alive?

Since witnessing her father's execution, Arya seems to have been everywhere. At the end of season seven, she is reunited with two of her siblings, although Sansa is a bit wary of her. The two aren't quite sure whether to trust one another or not but, ultimately, do it to take Littlefinger down.

Finally back in her ancestral home, Sansa has assumed her role as Lady of Winterfell. Fed up with the people around her trying to manipulate her, Sansa ordered the execution of Littlefinger after he tried to convince her to turn against her own sister.

The Hound's bigger, badder brother, is Gregor Clegane dead or alive?

We're going to go with "alive," but something definitely changed about Gregor Clegane after Oberyn Martell poisoned him with manticore venom in a fight to the death. Cersei enlisted ex-maester Qyburn to save Clegane, and he managed to do so. But the monster of a man no longer speaks yet serves in Cersei's Queensguard.

Perhaps even more than just the King of the North, is Jon Snow dead or alive?

At the end of season five, some brothers of the Night's Watch betrayed Jon and stabbed him to death. Knowing Westeros needs Jon, Davos convinced Melisandre to bring him back to life.

Cruel and completely lacking self-control, is Joffrey Baratheon dead or alive?

During the wedding feast celebrating his marriage to Margaery Tyrell, Joffrey drank deeply from a cup of wine that turned out to be poisoned. Olenna Tyrell said she wouldn't stand for her granddaughter to be married to such a "beast." She orchestrated the poisoning with the help of Littlefinger, but Cersei accused Tyrion of being responsible.

After standing by his sister's side for seven seasons, Jaime finally broke away from Cersei after she revealed she has no intention to assist against the White Walkers preferring to let her enemies destroy themselves. Disgusted, Jaime rode north to join the fight and help protect Westeros.

Jaime Lannister pushed him out of a tower; is Bran Stark dead or alive?

The fall from the tower left Bran crippled, but that didn't stop him from traveling all over Westeros including north of the Wall. The Three-Eyed Raven trained Bran how to harness his "greensight," and it's while reliving the past that Bran learned his half-brother Jon is a Targaryen. Based on this knowledge, Bran declared Jon the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.

In an attempt to save his life, Daenerys sent Jorah to find a cure for the greyscale that was slowly killing him. All hope seemed lost, but then, he met Samwell Tarly who was studying at the Citadel. Even though the maesters forbid him, Sam performed an old procedure on Jorah and cured the greyscale. Free of his affliction, Jorah returned to his queen's side.

The Lord of Casterly Rock and one of the most formidable men in Westeros, is Tywin Lannister dead or alive?

In season five, as Tyrion is escaping King's Landing, he discovered his father with a woman he himself once loved, Shae. Angry, Tyrion strangled Shae to death and confronted Tywin, who was sitting on the toilet. After listening to Tywin repeatedly dismiss Shae as a prostitute, Tyrion shot him with a crossbow, killing him.

Nicknamed The Hound and easily recognized by his scarred face, is Sandor Clegane dead or alive?

It was a long time coming, but at the end of season seven, The Hound saw his brother, Gregor, in King's Landing. But the highly-anticipated Clegane Bowl has yet to take place. What's sure to be a fight to the death will have to wait until season eight.

Even when Daenerys confronted Varys at Dragonstone and asked where his allegiances lie, he stood his ground. Unlike so many in Westeros, Varys said he serves no king or queen but, rather, the people. Daenerys seemed to respect his answer but seemed wary of future betrayal.

By season seven, Sansa trusts Brienne wholeheartedly, and that trust is well-placed because Brienne is as loyal as she is fierce. When Sansa couldn't bring herself to return to King's Landing for negotiations with Cersei, she sent Brienne in her stead.

Along with many others from Robb Stark's army and Winterfell, Catelyn attended the celebratory feast held by Walder Frey. It turned out to be a trap. She was one of the many victims of the Red Wedding.

Once loyal to Stannis but now a trusted friend of Jon Snow, Davos accompanied Jon and Daenerys to King's Landing to meet with Cersei. Having spent time at the Wall and see the White Walkers with his own eyes, he understands the danger facing Westeros.

The first King of the North in many years, is Robb Stark dead or alive?

Robb Stark was supposed to marry one of Walder Frey's daughters, so when he reneged to marry someone else, Walder Frey was infuriated. But he pretended everything was fine and invited Robb to the wedding feast to celebrate his daughter's nuptials with a different man. It was a trap, and despite Walder Frey promising safe passage, Robb Stark didn't leave the Red Wedding alive.

A devoted follower of the god R'hllor, is Melisandre dead or alive?

The Red Woman is still alive and still a major player. After encouraging Daenerys to invite Jon to Dragonstone, she decided to return to her homeland, Volantis. However, she told Varys she will come back to Westeros one last time because it is where she is meant to die ... eventually.

Brother of Robert and Renly, is Stannis Baratheon dead or alive?

Stannis thought he had what it took to be King of the Seven Kingdoms, but it just wasn't meant to be. After Ramsay Bolton easily defeated Stannis' army at Winterfell, Brienne found Stannis wounded but alive in the snow. He admitted using blood magic to kill his brother Renly, who Brienne loved. Fulfilling a promise to herself, she beheaded Stannis.

Fierce Dothraki leader and husband of Daenerys, is Khal Drogo dead or alive?

Way back in season two, one of Khal Drogo's men inflicted a wound on him that eventually festered. Too weak to ride and on the verge of death, Daenerys sacrificed the life of their unborn child to save her husband. But the witch's spell revived Drogo to little more than a vegetable state. Knowing he would not want to live that way, Daenerys smothered him.

A sarcastic sellsword, is Bronn dead or alive?

After nearly being scorched to death by one of Daenerys' dragons, Bronn returned to King's Landing and agreed to arrange a meeting between Tyrion and Jaime. The brothers' meeting was the precursor to getting Cersei and Daenerys in the same room to discuss a truce.

Nicknamed The Red Viper and hailing from the Kingdom of Dorne, is Oberyn Martell dead or alive?

With the idea to avenge his sister's death, Oberyn Martell volunteered to be Tyrion's sword in a trial by combat against Cersei's representative, The Mountain. In a horrifying scene, The Mountain crushed Oberyn's skull with his bare hands, but, not before Oberyn managed to cut him with the poisoned tip of his weapon.

Sadistic and cruel, is Ramsay Bolton dead or alive?

After Jon Snow's forces and the Knights of the Vale recaptured Winterfell, Jon locked Ramsay in the kennels. Sansa, who as Ramsay's wife suffered greatly at his hands, paid him a visit which ended with him being eaten alive by his own pack of dogs.

The cunning matriarch of Highgarden, is Olenna Tyrell dead or alive?

In season seven, Jaime and his forces seized control of Highgarden on behalf of Cersei. But because he respected Olenna, he offered her poison in a cup of wine. She accepted, and after downing it all, Olenna revealed she orchestrated Joffrey's death and wanted Cersei to know.

A famous wildling raider who befriended Jon Snow, is Tormund Giantsbane dead or alive?

At the end of season seven, Eastwatch is under attack. The Night King has brought Viserion back to life, and is using the dragon to attack the Wall. Tormund is trapped atop the Wall with Beric Dondarion, and the two are helpless as they watch the White Walkers march into the Seven Kingdoms.

The headstrong young wildling woman who captured Jon Snow's heart, is Ygritte dead or alive?

When the wildlings attacked Castle Black, Olly shot Ygritte in the back. He did it to avenge the deaths of his parents. While his relationship with Ygritte had an impact on Jon Snow, it wasn't enough to keep him from taking on Olly as a steward.

The younger brother of Joffrey and son of Cersei, is Tommen Baratheon dead or alive?

Tommen tried so hard to set things right between his mother and Margaery, but Cersei wasn't having it. When he learned Margary died in the explosion Cersei set off at the Great Sept of Baelor, he committed suicide out of grief.

The wily Lord of the Crossing, is Walder Frey dead or alive?

Arya Stark avenged her brother's death by killing Walder Frey, who betrayed Robb. Then, using the skills she learned with the Faceless Men, she disguised herself as him and poisoned the rest of his family.

The youngest of the Stark children, is Rickon Stark dead or alive?

Rickon ended up in the hands of Ramsay Bolton, and it was a bad place to be. Before doing battle with Jon, Ramsay ordered Rickon to run across the open battlefield to his brother. Before Rickon made it across, Ramsay shot him in the heart with an arrow.

Oberyn Martell's beloved paramour, is Ellaria Sand dead or alive?

When Euron captured Yara, he also imprisoned Ellaria and her daughter, Tyene. He gifted the women to Cersei, knowing the Queen would want to exact revenge on Ellaria for killing Myrcella. To do so, Cersei kissed Tyene on the lips with the same poison Ellaria used to murder Myrcella. She then left Ellaria to watch her daughter die and then rot. Very cruel, but as far as we know, Ellaria lives.

Once Daenerys' lover, is Daario Naharis dead or alive?

As much as Daenerys liked Daario, she likes the idea of sitting on the Iron Throne more. As far as we know, Daario is fighting with the Golden Company ... which Cersei plans to employ.

Elderly and blind but the wisest of the Night's Watch, is Maester Aemon dead or alive?

A secret Targaryen himself, Maester Aemon fell ill, so Jon sent him to the Citadel. However, while crossing the sea between Braavos and Oldtown, he died.

Sister of Theon but not one to stay home while the boys have all the fun, is Yara Greyjoy dead or alive?

In season seven, Yara swore her fleet to Daenerys, but while on an errand for her new ally, Euron, Yara's uncle, captured her. The last we saw of Yara, Euron was leading her away in chains.

One of Robert Baratheon's main illegitimate children, is Gendry dead or alive?

Melisandre convinced Stannis that if they sacrificed Gendry, who as the son of Robert has Kingsblood flowing through his veins, they'd be able to raise a dragon. However, Davos recognized the plan as insane and helped Gendry escape. Flash forward, and Gendry ended up north of the Wall with Jon Snow. For now, he's alive.
