There are a lot of different kinds of bravery in the world. If you are yourself each and every day, then you're brave. If you stick up for someone who has been bullied, then you are brave. If you move to a new city where you don't know anyone, then you're brave. It even shows bravery when you say that you love someone for the first time, or when you get married in front of hundreds of people.
But none of this bravery is the same as the courage that is shown by a United States soldier. Even if the soldier never sees any military action, he or she has already committed to being willing to fight and put their lives on the line for the rest of the people in our country and for our nation. Just the knowledge that might happen is enough to terrify a lot of people, but not a U.S soldier. And then what if there actually is a war that the soldier needs to fight in and literally put their life on the line? Yes, a U.S. soldier is brave, there is no doubt about it. Take this quiz to see if you're brave enough to be one.Â
Do you think you could handle combat action?
Umm. No.
I might be able to.
If I joined the Army I would do whatever I needed to do.
