The idea of a man cave is relatively new in those terms, but the idea of a man wanting a place to just be a man is not. Men have always found bars, clubhouses and places to hang out in. Even boys build tree houses and forts in the yard. It's just a natural thing to want to have a place to call your own. A place that you and you alone get to decorate, where you eat what you want, watch what you want and do what you want whenever you want. Need friends to hang out with? Call them over. Want to be alone? Lock the door. The man cave is a little slice of personal freedom, and sometimes you just need that, especially when you're feeling a little overwhelmed by everything in everyday life.
