About This Quiz

Before 1950, everyone used cash to make purchases. While a few places, such as oil companies and hotel chains, started issuing credit cards in the 1920s, it wasn't until 1950 that the Diner's Club introduced a universal credit card, which allowed the owner to make purchases at a variety of establishments. Eight years later, American Express released its version of a credit card that focused on travel. Visa, which started as BankAmericard, was also founded in 1958. The last major credit card company, MasterCard, was founded in 1966 and received its current name in 1979. While Diner's Club is no longer popular in the United States, all four major credit card companies are still in existence.

Despite the prevalence of credit and debit cards, cash may never completely go away. Even if you prefer to use credit cards, you probably have a few dollars in your wallet in case of the rare emergency where you find yourself in a place that doesn't accept some type of plastic. If you open your wallet, you will probably find a few Washingtons, a Lincoln, a Hamilton, and a Jackson. If you've recently been to the bank, you may have a Grant or a Benjamin. In order of how the presidents were mentioned, the denominations are 1 dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, 20 dollars, 50 dollars, and 100 dollars.

Before you take out your wallet to count, answer a few questions to see if we can correctly guess the amount of money you have on you!
