About This Quiz

Although the automobile is barely more than 120 years old, it has transformed the landscape of the industrialized world. It has brought us all closer together, enabling us to traverse great distances in comfort and at least a decent level of safety. It has also separated us, not just by isolating us from our fellow man as we travel, but also by encouraging layouts of towns and cities that work against neighborhood cohesion, increase crime and clog up our streets. So cars have certainly been a mixed blessing to society at large.

At the individual level, cars certainly mean different things to different people: a way to get from A to B; a place to think and to clear one's head; a form of freedom that you cannot get any other way; and a way to display one's identity to the world. People not only buy or hire a car that reflects the way they see the world, but they also use it in a way that reflects how they feel about it, how busy they are and their personality. Some people are laid-back drivers, others are hyper-aggressive, and most are broadly responsible.

So tell us about yourself, and we'll guess how you handle yourself behind the wheel!

You suddenly notice that your highway exit is only 100 feet away and you are two lanes over. What do you do?
There's another exit a mile up. I'll just take that one.
I will spin my wheel hard and hope others move out of the way.
I have no idea and may make a different decision each time.
Wait, where is my exit?
How do you merge into fast traffic?
I slowly get to the edge of the merge and stop until I see an opening.
I speed up and swerve into traffic. Turn signals are optional - they know I'm coming.
I have no idea. Usually, I close my eyes and pray.
Did I just merge? Sorry, my friend just called.
You are coming up to a stop sign. What do you do?
I stop, look both ways and go when safe.
If no one is at the stop I just go through. If there are others, I just go on through.
I usually stop, then go, then stop and eventually wave everyone else through. But, then I go before them.
If I don't blow the stop, I will slow down and go, usually forgetting to check if there is anyone else there.
