Some of the show's conceptual material referred to him as Willy Gilligan, but he is only ever known as Gilligan on the show.

"Gilligan Meets Jungle Boy" features a very young Kurt Russell. He can't communicate verbally beyond repeating the last few words he hears. This poses a problem for the castaways when he uses the hot-air balloon they build in the episode to leave the island. He's unable to tell anyone about the stranded castaways.
In "Don't Bug The Mosquitoes," a rock band known as "The Mosquitoes" visit the island for some peace and quiet. The castaways devise a plan to annoy The Mosquitoes so much that the band will want to leave and take the castaways home. The Mosquitoes are so threatened by how good the girl group is, though, that they leave the castaways stranded when they depart the island.
