About This Quiz
He's been everyone from Hugh Hefner to a random delivery guy. He's popped up so much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that we often wonder how the characters haven't been able to figure out that this is the same guy every time. Stan Lee cameos are a given when it comes to anything that has to do with Marvel. He loves showing up in his own movies as a reminder that creation is a beautiful thing (and it can be pretty funny too).Â
Stan Lee has shown up in nearly every Marvel movie since 1989. He plays background characters, from museum security guards to wedding guests to himself. Heck, he even dressed up as Larry King one time. If you love seeing Stan show up in his own movies, you're going to love this quiz. Yes, you'll be seeing quite a bit of the recent MCU films, but we also have some deep cuts to share with you. If you think you know every Stan Lee cameo ever done and what movie it belongs to, it's time to test your skills. See how many of these movies you can identify if we only show you what Stan Lee's role in it.
It's incredible to think of how many times they actually tried to give the Hulk a stand-alone movie. In 2008, we can see Stan Lee in a cut-away shot, drinking some deliciously poisoned green soda.
In 2018, Ant-Man returned to give us another installment of his dry humor and do-the-right-thing attitude. This essential installment around the time of "Infinity War" helped bridge the gap in the plot.
While it may feel like "Doctor Strange" (2016) was smooshed into the Avengers timeline as an afterthought, the backstory was pretty compelling, but the special effects were the cherry on the cake.

Alright, everyone knows that "Spider-Man 3" (2007) is considered one of the worst Spider-Man movies of all time, but we did get some good stuff out of it ... like a Stan Lee cameo and Toby McGuire's dance moves.
What happens when you CGI Chris Evans' muscles to look smaller and then CGI them to look bigger? Captain America happens. The suit was perfect, and this movie really brought Cap to life.
While it isn't even his creation, Stan Lee made an appearance in this DC film. He says at the end of the movie that he doesn't even care who made the movie, he's way into cameos ... then he said "Excelsior!"

You might think it's difficult to get a good (and natural-looking) cameo in a movie that's set mainly in space. However, Marvel doesn't feel the same way. They don't care if it looks natural, as long as it gives the fans the satisfaction of seeing another cameo by Lee.
"Iron Man" (2008) was probably one of the best MCU movies ever created. Not only did we see the resurrection of Robert Downey Jr.'s career, but we also got our first glimpse of the Avenger initiative.
Once the MCU started to move away from Thor's relationship problems, the "Thor" movies became exponentially better. In "Thor: Ragnarok" (2017), we see Stan Lee with a very frightening device attached to his hand. Luckily, it only gives Thor a haircut.

The MCU has spread across various movie production companies, television channels and streaming outlets. There are so many characters, it's hard to keep up, but "The Gifted" (2017-9) put a good effort in, though it didn't last long.
"Thor" (2011) was a fun movie for those who loved the comic books and for those who loved to see a superhero's muscles. However, many didn't recognize Stan Lee as the man who tried to drag Thor's hammer with a truck.
Let's face it "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (2015) was a pretty awesome movie. All right, we had to see the Avengers fight among each other a little bit, and we did see some clunker moments, but who could deny James Spader's voice?

If you wanted a PG-13 cameo for an R-rated movie, you weren't going to find it in "Deadpool" (2016). The movie was made to be raunchy, and we needed Stan to put on his best strip club face for this one. He did not disappoint.
It's great to see Stan Lee take on all walks of life in his cameos. Sometimes, he even gambles. This was the case in "Black Panther" (2018), the story of a Wakandan king who took his place as the savior of his people.
We are all Spider-Man in this animated movie from 2018. Not only does this cameo bring tears to our eyes, but we also have to laugh when Lee tells the kid that the costumes always fit ... eventually.

Though many thought that "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) wasn't going to amount to much, it pleasantly surprised audiences. It was hilarious and action-packed, and it was everything we needed in a Marvel film.
"X-Men: The Last Stand" (2006) was a movie that showed the origins of Jean Grey's character and her powers. In this flashback scene, we see Stan Lee watering his garden as Grey goes berserk with her telekinesis.
When Cap needs his costume, he has to go back in time ... Well, he goes to the museum, which is kind of back in time. We see a security guard (Stan Lee) come up and realize that the costume is missing and so is Cap.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017) brings us back to the days when Spider-Man was a boy ... because Spider-Man was always a boy in the comics. He has to go to school, deal with the daily life of a teen and save the world all at the same time.
Of all the heartfelt animated movies that were released in the early '10s, "Big Hero 6" (2014) was the only one with a Stan Lee cameo. In this movie, he plays Fred's father. We think animation makes Lee look a little younger (but he was always young at heart).
It's always fun to see Stan Lee practicing lines, and when Captain Marvel is searching for an alien who can change forms, she comes across Lee doing just that. It's the perfect cameo for the perfect serial-cameo-ist (if that's a thing).

"Spider-Man" (2002) was another attempt to bring the web-slinger to the big screen. The franchise did pretty well for the first two movies ... then Spider-Man learned how to dance and things changed quite a bit.
Everyone was excited to see Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) play Jean Grey, and few were disappointed. "X-Men: Apocalypse" (2016) gave new life to the franchise and showed us that the new generation wasn't so bad after all.
At the end of "Once Upon a Deadpool" (2018) is a PG-13 version of "Deadpool" in which Deadpool kidnaps Fred Savage to tell his story in a nice way. Though Lee doesn't show up within the movie, we see a lot of great outtakes from "Deadpool 2" (2018).

This is Stan Lee's final cameo, and it is appreciated and heartfelt. "Avengers: Endgame" (2019) focuses the story on the remaining cast members after Thanos deletes half of the human race.
If you haven't seen "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" (2014), don't worry, not many people did. Despite the many attempts at perfecting the Spider-Man character, Lee still shows up in the movies, generally as a prospector.
"Thor: The Dark World" (2013) has some pretty hilarious moments, and we even see Stan Lee as a patient.

All right, we all know how everyone on the planet feels about "Daredevil" (2003), but can we all agree that the Netflix series more than makes up for it? In this movie, Lee is reading a paper and almost walks into traffic. Luckily Matt is there to save him.
"X-Men" (2000) was our first chance at seeing High Jackman play Wolverine, but it was also another chance to see Stan Lee play a random background character. If you blink, you'll miss him as the beach hot-dog vendor in this installment of the "X-Men" franchise.
When you first watch "Venom" (2018), you probably assume that Stan Lee isn't going to make an appearance. However, at the end of the film, we finally see a glimpse of him walking a dog, and we're happy again.

In "The Trial of the Incredible Hulk" (1989), we see Stan Lee play one of the jurors. He gives us his scared look as Bruce Banner hulks out in the scene where he's on the witness stand.
There have been many tries at getting the Hulk right, and this was one of the ones that should have stayed away from the big screen. It was probably fun to make, but the effects weren't right for the time, and the story was pretty lackluster.
The "Fantastic Four" movies gave us a lot of hope when it came to discarding the campy notions of comic-book movies in the early and mid-2000s. Seeing Stan Lee try to get into a wedding with his name alone reminded us that comics can be funny as well.

Who doesn't love a movie where a random guy learns how to control the ants around him? "Ant-Man" (2015) was a self-aware movie in which Paul Rudd plays a very playful superhero who learns quite a bit over a short amount of time.
We can all agree that "Captain America: Civil War" was a nice little side story for the "Avengers" films. It wasn't necessarily a Captain America movie at all. However, that didn't matter, because we got to see Stan Lee delivering packages again.
"Deadpool 2" (2018) is a fantastically self-aware movie where Deadpool's antics continue. He loses his girl and things just get worse for him. However, we do get to see a glimpse of Stan Lee, even if he isn't actually on set.

People dis the "Fantastic Four" franchise quite a bit, but we should all take the time to be grateful that we got to see Chris Evans play two Marvel heroes. In this movie, Stan Lee plays a mailman character that he wrote into the comic books, Mr. Willie Lumpkin.
Who would have thought that a cast of about 725 main characters could make it through a movie that actually made sense? Marvel, that's who. Thankfully, they squeezed in a cameo for Stan Lee.
Kevin Smith, the writer of "Mallrats" (1995), was a huge fan of pretty much everything that Stan Lee ever touched, so to have a cameo in one of his movies was a big deal. The main character of the movie (Brodie) is starstruck when he sees Lee.

It seems that Lee's cameos in the Spider-Man movies were simply to save random people in the crowd. Of course, these movies were made well before they started getting really creative with Stan's acting range.
