It's the world's largest car market which means there's a lot of driving going on over there that many drivers in North America know nothing about. So few cars get exported from China to North America and those that do are often rebranded so many drivers don't even realize. But hey, it's the biggest country in the world with over one billion people living there so it stands to reason they must have a pretty exceptional car market, right? And they do!
From familiar makers like Chevrolet and Volkswagen to others that rarely are heard of outside of China, like Wuling and Denza, you could spend a lot of time on the roads of China pointing out different vehicles. Which manufacturer makes both the Song and the Song Max?
BYD's Song is an SUV that has been available since 2015 while the Song Max is a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that has been made since 2017. The difference between an SUV and an MPV seems to be that an MPV is a bit more like a station wagon.
Which of these is an electric car produced by Denza?
The Denza 500 has been in production since 2013. The Denza name is a joint venture between the German Daimler AG and Chinese automaker BYD. When it first hit the road there were already 112,000 electric car charging stations available in China.
The Tiggo 8 is a crossover SUV made by Chery since 2018. It's a followup to the Tiggo 7 and the latest in the Tiggo line, which has been produced since 2005. Oddly enough, the Tiggo 3 was the first model, there was no 1 or 2.
Haima makes the M8, the S5 Young and the V70 and several other models but the RX5 is actually made by Roewe. Haima has been producing cars in China since 1992 and was originally a joint venture with Mazda.
Changan produces the CS75 and had done so since 2013. Changan Automobiles is a remarkably old company that has been in existence since 1862. It was originally a military supply factory called the Shanghai Foreign Gun Bureau.

Chery Tiggo 8
The Wuling Hongguang looks like an SUV but they do refer to it as an MPV, which stands for multi-purpose vehicle. It's been manufactured since 2010. Thanks to market differences the Hongguang is very affordable compared to American cars and costs about $7,200 USD.
The Baojun E200 is a supermini electric vehicle that's been available since 2018. It's a two-door with a hatchback and can travel up to 167 miles on a charge. It replaced the E100 with some better performance overall.
The Haval F7 is made under the Haval name by Great Wall Motors. Great Wall has been making cars under the Haval name since 2013, particularly crossovers and SUVs. The cars they produce are available in dozens of countries around the world.
SAIC makes cars under the Roewe name. What brand did they mostly buy out to make Roewe?
British automaker MG Rover was mostly bought out by SAIC who used their technology to start the Roewe brand. They didn't get the rights to the name Rover as Ford got ahold of that, so they came up with Roewe as a replacement.
The SWM G01 was made for the 2018 production year. SWM is the abbreviated name for Speedy Working Motors which itself is owned by the Brilliance Auto Group and produces the G01 under the Brilliance Shineray name. It's quite confusing.

The BYD Tang has been in production since 2015, made by the BYD Auto Company. BYD has been making automobiles since 2003, although it's a subsidiary of a larger company that's been in business since 1995.
The DFSK K-series, made by Dongfeng Sokon, is a series of microvans and pickup trucks that have been in production since 2005. They're surprisingly cheap, even relative to many other Chinese vehicles, with some costing less than $4,000.
