Ygritte was one of the best Wildling fighters and one of the best soldiers in the entire show. She fell in love with Jon Snow, and when she had a chance to kill him, she let him escape instead. She later died in his arms as she told him he knew nothing.

Arya falls in love with sword fighting very early and spends most of the story traveling and training to be an assassin. She eventually makes her way to Braavos where she trains with the Faceless Men in the House of Black and White. Her sword's nickname is "Needle."

Tommen was the total opposite of Joffrey but his kindness was taken for weakness. He was easily manipulated by the High Sparrow and simply did whatever Margaery told him to do when he was king. He ultimately couldn't handle the pressure of being king.

Jon Snow manages to "break the wheel" and end the Targaryen reign of Westeros when he kills Daenerys at the end of the story. Snow was raised in Winterfell and then moved on to the Night's Watch, but was actually a Targaryen by blood.

Sansa wanted to be queen when she was young, but after moving to King's Landing and living with Joffrey, she changed her mind. She was later held captive by Ramsay Bolton before fleeing and recapturing Winterfell.

The war between the Starks and Lannisters was started in part because Catelyn Stark took Tyrion as prisoner. Tyrion was in the middle of the fighting from beginning to end, but somehow manages to be the only Lannister to survive the story.

Daenerys Targaryen eventually became Queen of the Andals and the First Men, but she's most known for being the Mother of Dragons. House Targaryen ruled from the island of Dragonstone before Jaime Lannister slayed the Mad King.

Bran Stark is the Lord of the Six Kingdoms, and his sister Sansa is the Queen of the North, which is the seventh kingdom. Bran's also the Three-Eyed Raven and has the ability to see everything that's ever happened.

The Mad King's reign came to an end when Jaime Lannister, the then-head of the Kingsguard, turned on him. The Mad King wanted Jaime to kill his father, Tywin, and burn King's Landing, but Jaime refused.

Melisandre earned the trust of Stannis early on in the story and carried out a series of very questionable practices. She's known as the Red Woman and she was a priestess who worshiped the Lord of Light. She was known to practice blood magic.

Cersei's first child was one of the most evil characters in the story. He nicknamed his sword "Widow's Wail," and recklessly executed Eddard Stark, which started the War of the Five Kings. When it came time to battle, he safely hid inside.

Margaery let her ambitions be known early on that she didn't just want to be a queen. She wanted to be the head queen in charge. She did her best to change Joffrey's evil ways and was able to manipulate Tommen with ease.

Tywin Lannister melted Eddard Stark's sword when he died and made two swords. They were both made of Valyrian steel. He gave one sword to Jaime and Jaime gave it to Brienne. Brienne named it "Oathkeeper" in honor of her oath to save Sansa Stark.

Missandei was captured and enslaved at a young age. She eventually became a translator but was freed by Daenerys Targaryen after she began liberating Slaver's Bay. Missandei knew 19 languages and was one of Daenerys' most trusted aides.

Theon Greyjoy was one of the most disappointing characters in the show. The Greyjoy name would've been ruined if it weren't for Yara and her bravery. After King's Landing is toppled and Daenerys is killed, Yara is later seen sitting on the council to elect a new king.

The men in the Mormont family all left for various reasons, leaving Lyanna and her mother to run the house. Lyanna eventually became the head of the household at a very young age after her mother died in battle.

Just when life for Sansa couldn't possibly get any worse, she met Ramsay Bolton. Ramsay was one of the evilest characters in the story and even married Sansa. He faces off against Jon Snow in the Battle of the Bastards and eventually meets his fate.

Myrcella is Joffrey's younger sister and Tommen's older sister. She was killed by Ellaria via poisoned kiss because Cersei had Ellaria's lover, Oberyn, killed by The Mountain. Cersei later kills Ellaria's daughter with a poisoned kiss in an act of revenge.

Theon Greyjoy grew up like a son to Eddard Stark but he eventually turned on the family. He captured Winterfell for a short period of time before it was taken over by Ramsay Bolton. Bolton later imprisoned Theon and changed his name to Reek.

Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish sneakily put into action many events that shaped the War of the Five Kings. He and Olenna Tyrell plotted to poison Joffrey Baratheon, and he also secretly had Jon Aryn killed.

Cersei became mother to two kings and was the most powerful person in Westeros at multiple points in the story. She even claims the Iron Throne at one point, and although she has no legitimate claim, no one in the city is powerful enough to stop her.

Catelyn Stark caused quite a stir across the kingdom when she decided to hold Tyrion prisoner at the start of the story. She joined her son during battle and eventually met her fate along his side at the Red Wedding.

The Master of Whisperers is essentially the director of national intelligence for Westeros. Lord Varys operated a network of intelligence gatherers that he called "little birdies." They were street kids who lurked around and several other spies.

The guy who uses the alias Jaqen H'ghar really has no name and is a Faceless Man. He trains Arya Stark in the House of Black and White in Braavos and turns her into an assassin. He's one of the few fighters who survive the story.

Robb Stark was the first person to be named King of the North in three centuries. He shocked all of Westeros by continuously winning battles, but he was eventually tricked and killed at the Red Wedding.

The Unsullied is a group of warriors in Astapor who do nothing but fight and kill. Grey Worm is the commander of the Unsullied, and although he's been a fighter his entire life, he falls in love with Missandei.

Talisa was pregnant with Robb Stark's child when they all met their fate at the Red Wedding. She was a noble from Volantis who disagreed with a life of nobility and decided to serve as a nurse. She met Robb during battle and the two soon got married.

Samwell Tarly was one of the most timid and least brave Night's Watchmen in the story. All he wanted to do was read and learn, and he eventually lived out his dream when he visited the Citadel and ultimately became Grand Maester.

Stannis Baratheon was the middle child between older brother Robert and younger brother Renly. He was a master at sea warfare and battle strategy, but he ultimately met his fate after putting too much trust into Melisandre.
