About This Quiz

There are hundreds of pro sports teams strewn across the planet, attracting billions of fans and large TV audiences. Can you match the team to the sport that it plays?

Golden State Warriors

Behind masterful team play and magical passing, the Warriors won NBA championships in 2015 and 2017. The team has five total pro basketball titles.

Dallas Cowboys

They are nicknamed "America's Team," because the Cowboys are indeed one of the most popular football teams in the world. They've made it to eight Super Bowls, tied for second all-time in the NFL.

New York Yankees

They are among the most celebrated (and reviled) dynasties in pro sports -- the New York Yankees. They've won 27 World Series, making them the most sucessful pro baseball team around.

Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens are the longest-running pro hockey team in the world. The squad's been hammering away on the ice since 1909.

Portland Trailblazers

The Trailblazers didn't take up pro basketball until 1970 as an NBA expansion team. Unlike most expansion clubs, they immediately garnered a devoted following and sold out more than 800 straight games.

Boston Celtics

No other team has won as many basketball championships as the Celtics. Since the team's birth in 1946, it has won 17 NBA titles.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona isn't a sports team -- it's a cultural phenomenon. Since 1899, the team has been competing at soccer's highest levels, and it has a fanatical group of fans.

New England Patriots

The Patriots are the team to beat in today's NFL. Between QB Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, the Pats have assembled one of the most successful runs in recent pro football history.

Chicago Blackhawks

From 1962 to 2008, Chicago hockey fans had it rough, because their beloved Blackhawks just couldn't break through. But since 2009, the team has won three Stanley Cup titles.

New Orleans Saints

The Saints are a study in NFL football contrasts. They lost miserably for decades. And then, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, they pulled off an improbable Super Bowl victory.

Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers started in Minnesota (thus, the "Lake" aspect of the nickname) and then moved to Los Angeles after the 1959 season. With 16 NBA trophies, they have the second-most titles in pro basketball.

Green Bay Packers

The community-owned Packers play in a small football market in Green Bay, Wisconsin. But you'll never get season tickets...unless you're willing to wait about three decades. They are one of the most popular clubs in the NFL.

Real Madrid CF

Based in Madrid, Spain, this soccer club is one of the most powerful on Earth. It's earned more than 60 major trophies since its formation in 1902.

Boston Red Sox

Following the team's creation in 1901, the Red Sox immediately dominated baseball. Then, the team went on an 86-year title drought. Boston takes consolation in the fact that it wins pretty much every pro sport championship on a semi-regular basis.

New York Knicks

This baskeball team's full name is actually the New York Knickerbockers, but does anyone even know what "Knickbockers" are anymore? That's why we just call them the Knicks.

San Francisco 49ers

Thanks to guys like Steve Young and Joe Montana, the 49ers dominated pro football in the '80s and '90s. Those past successes fuel the club's enduring popularity.

Detroit Red Wings

In Detroit, a city that's been roughed up in the past few decades, the Red Wings have ignited the passions of local sports fans. The team often competes at the highest levels and won hockey's Stanley Cup in 2007-08.

Pittsburgh Steelers

No football team in the NFL has won as many Super Bowls as the Steelers. The team has won an astounding six Super Bowl titles, and believe it or not, that's more than the Patriots.

San Francisco Giants

They started as the New York Giants and saw amazing success, winning five World Series titles. Then they moved, and the San Francisco version of the Giants isn't too shabby, either -- 2010, 2012 and 2014? All Giants championships.

Washington Redskins

The Redskins have lately been one of pro football's biggest disappointments. The team's dedicated fans have been denied a Super Bowl victory since 1991.

Philadelphia Phillies

No other sports team has stuck around in one city, with one name, as long as the Phillies, a team that's been playing in Philadelphia since 1883. But in that long stretch, the club's won just two baseball titles.

Manchester United

Have you ever heard of "soccer?" Manchester United is soccer. The team is the Yankees, Celtics and Patriots, all rolled into one.

New York Giants

The Giants are the football team that denied the Patriots football immortality, stealing from them a perfect season in 2007. But the Giants are more than just heartbreakers, they've won four Super Bowl championships total.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have seen a resurgence in their NFL popularity thanks to recent playoff appearances. But the team hasn't won a Super Bowl (or even appeared in one) since Super Bowl IV.

FC Bayern Munich

When it comes to German soccer, FC Bayern Munich is top dog. The team has captured 27 national titles in its glorious history.

Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs are a fabulously successful hockey club, with 13 Stanley Cup championships. Only Montreal has won more titles.

Denver Broncos

It took the Broncos a few decades to achieve competitive status in the NFL. But they frequently dominate the AFC West and they've taken home three Super Bowl titles since the mid-'90s.

Chelsea FC

Chelsea FC was an also-ran soccer club for much of its history. But in the past 20 years, the team's showed incredible performance on the pitch, winning more than 20 trophies.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs owned baseball's most agonizing title drought, a 108-year stretch that tortured Chicago fans. But in 2016, they finally broke the curse with a World Series victory.

Seattle Seahawks

Led by head coach Pete Carroll and star QB Russell Wilson, the Seahawks have been terrorizing the NFL for years. They also play in one of the loudest stadiums on Earth.
