Before becoming one of the world's greatest powers, the United States had humble beginnings. Prior to its independence from Great Britain, the country started off as thirteen colonies. After seeking independence from Great Britain during the American Revolutionary War, the United States began forming in 1787 with the ratification of the Constitution by Delaware.
