About This Quiz
The East Coast of the United States is different from the rest of the country in a number of important ways. For a start, the East Coast is home to the oldest states in the union, with complex cultures and more complex histories. From Massachusetts to Georgia, the thirteen colonies evolved with time, giving birth to additional states included in the geographic boundaries of the first thirteen, including Maine, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Vermont.
In addition to these relatively old cultures, East Coast living involves cycles of weather that can be alternately annoying and terrifying. When hurricanes hit the East Coast, they can run north like a buzz saw, destroying billions of dollars in property, and when heat waves hit, they can mean going outside is dangerous for the elderly or infirmed.
Finally, there is the matter of travel. Flying up and down the East Coast isn't terribly difficult, but the airports themselves are notorious. Trains exist but can be problematic or slow. Driving is always an option, with the mighty Interstate 95 running the length of the coast, but different states have different approaches to traffic laws, meaning a ticket in one state can be a felony in another.
Given all the factors, it can be hard to tell if you're a match for the East Coast. The good news is that with this quiz, we can sort it all out for you.
