The hotness of peppers is rated on a scale called the Scoville scale, and is measured in units of spiciness. In order to come up with the heat units, alcohol is measured to see how much alcohol is needed to dilute the spice of the pepper. The test is named after its founder, American pharmacist Wilbur Scoville, and was started in 1912. Bell peppers are one of the mildest peppers, along with cherry peppers. For a while, the hottest pepper in the world was the Habanero pepper. But since then, peppers like the ghost pepper, Carolina Reaper, and pepper x have taken reign as the hottest pepper. Most of these are hybrids of extremely hot peppers, morphed together to make even hotter peppers.
That's kind of how people work, too. It is always assumed that two hot people will make hot kids. While that doesn't always ring true, the better looking two people are, the more chance they have at passing along those genes to their kids. Are you lucky enough to be one of the hottest? Or maybe you are one of the sweetest, which is equally as impressive. It's hard being nice these days! Whether you are sweet or hot, we can tell you which pepper you are most like with this quiz!
