In Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin was cast as the 11-year-old Tom Riddle, and his uncle Ralph Fiennes was cast as Lord Voldemort, also known as Tom Riddle. David Yates said he hired Hero because of his resemblance to his uncle, but mostly because he really liked the dark haunted quality about Hero.
In the opening of this film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1, when Hermione is called down for tea, you can hear her parents talking about Australia. In this epilog, the wife of Draco Malfoy, Astoria Greengrass, is played by his real life girlfriend Jade Olivia.

Early in the film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry sees a newspaper article with a photograph of the Weasley family in Egypt. Though it isn't discussed, this is a very important plot point. While on an inspection in Azkaban the Minister of Magic had a copy of that paper and gave it to Sirius Black who recognized Peter Pettigrew disguised as Scabbers. This is what made him break out of Azkaban, track down Scabbers, and kill him for revenge.
Rupert Grint in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has severe arachnophobia, so much so that he won't watch the entire scene where Aragog and the spiders appear. In that scene, the look of fright on Ron’s face and his ucomfortable squirming throughout was not from acting, it was from Rupert's terrified face.
During the filming of Harry Pottery and the Order of the Phoenix, Alan Rickman forbid Neville Longbottom and Ron Weasley from being within 5 meters of his car, a new BMW. He did this because they spilled a milkshake in his car while filming Goblet of Fire.

In the book version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hermione uses the Sleekeazy’s Hair Potion to straighten her hair for Yulle Ball. J.K. Rowling revealed later that Pottermore was part of the Potter family background, and that this potion was invented by Fleamont Potter the paternal grandfather of Harry Potter.
The filmmakers wanted to go the extra mile with the characters of Hermione Granger and Harry Potter, in "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone", so they fitted Hermione with big buck teeth and gave Harry contact lenses. When Harry's reaction to his lenses was less than ideal and Hermione couldn't talk clearly with her teeth, they opted to give up on those hopes.
In Harry Pottery and the Order of the Phoenix, J.K. Rowling gave over 70 names for the Black family tree tapestry, complete with details of the relations between each and every single member, which were to be scorched, saved, and so on.
