About This Quiz

Ancient, shamanic societies believed in connections between the physical world and the spirit world, in which shadowy reflections of our world exist. In the spirit world, intelligences related to things in our world work their will, and a talented occultist could contact and commune with these spirits. Primitive societies had sorcerers who sought out communion with animal spirits, weather spirits, and even spirits of mountains and rivers. These ancient archetypes continue to resonate for some people who continue to use them at times when they need strength, wits or courage.

Today, our surroundings include a lot more than bears, wolves, clouds and plains. The modern world is filled with totally new things, innovations that would be unrecognizable to our ancestors. These objects, despite being created by man and not being alive, are suffused with personalities of their own, and a history that informs their purposes and designs. Do you think it is possible that, as with boulders and bolts of lightning, these modern objects could be counterparts in our world to spirits in the umbra? And were those spirits there before, inspiring our creations, or is it the other way around? Either way, we can determine which of these spirits is your patron. Take this quiz and find out if your spirit vehicle is a car, truck, or motorcycle!
