In the field of psychology and psychoanalysis, word association is used to discover how a person might react to a particular word (with the hopes of providing insight into how different parts of the individual's brain works.) This quiz contains 30 words, and many of them are Canadian-themed words — although you'll find some wild cards in there to shake things up. The idea is to respond to the words without thinking. All you have to do is select the first answer that comes to mind. Going back to psychoanalysis for a moment, C.J. Jung believed in a theory called the collective unconscious, which posits that our deepest unconscious thoughts aren't original but are inherited. Using this theory and extending it to an entire community means your geographical whereabouts might be easier to detect than you think! In other words, based on your responses to these words, we believe we'll be able to guess where you're from in Canada.
