About This Quiz
Set during the Korean War, the members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital use humor to cope with the horror of war. When "M*A*S*H" ended after 11 seasons, its series finale became the most-watched scripted television event in history. Find out how well you remember the series.
In the series finale, what message does B.J. spell out in stones for Hawkeye to see as he helicopters away?
With nearly 106 million viewers on average, "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" is still the most-watched series finale in television history. Viewership was at its highest in the last six minutes, with a whopping 121.6 million. No other series has come close to breaking the record. For comparison, these are the sitcoms that have come closest: 80.4 million watched the "Cheers" finale, 76.3 million tuned in for the "Seinfeld" finale and 52.5 million watched the "Friends" finale. With an average of 106.5 million viewers, Super Bowl XLIV barely edged out the "M*A*S*H" finale in 2010 for the most viewers of any type of television program.
Who has a long affair with Margaret?
The relationship between Frank Burns, a married man, and Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan is the longest-running romance on the show. Though they think their tryst is a secret, everyone at the 4077th knows about it. Their affair lasts until Margaret gets engaged to Donald in season five.
Klinger spends most of the series trying to get sent home to which of these cities?
Klinger tries various stunts, including often wearing women's clothing, hoping to get a psychiatric discharge. After Radar's departure, Klinger takes over as company clerk and stops trying to get discharged. At the end of the series, he even stays in Korea to help his new wife find her family.
How did Hawkeye get his nickname?
Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce got his nickname from his dad. It's the name of the main character in "The Last of the Mohicans," which Hawkeye claims is the only book his dad ever read. Of course, his dad is also a doctor, so we assume he's read a medical book or two.
Radar's trusty teddy bear is practically a character. What happens to it?
While "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen" is the series finale, "As Time Goes By" is actually the last episode they filmed. In the episode, everyone at the 4077th buries a time capsule. Hawkeye adds Radar's teddy bear, which Radar had left behind for Hawkeye when he went home.
