In the universe of 'Star Wars,' The Force, also called the Ashla, It, or Third Sight is an energy field generated by all living entities that connects everything in the Galaxy. It resides in all lifeforms but is especially powerful in certain living organisms who are born with high concentrations of midi-chlorians (microscopic lifeforms which share a relationship with the force) in their blood. These people/animals are called 'Force-sensitive."

There are several aspects to The Force, including the light side of the Force, sometimes referred to as Ashla, which the Jedi adhere to; and the dark side of the Force sometimes called Bogan, which the Sith are major practitioners of. 

Some of the most memorable Force-sensitive users from the franchise from both sides of the Force include Darth Vader, Yoda, Quin-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rey, Kylo Ren, Darth Sidious and Mace Windu.

Force aura can be used by certain Force-sensitive individuals to locate another individual by feeling them, but this power is usually uncontrollable. There are several Force aura colors, each of which has their own meaning.
