By: Zoe Samuel
About This Quiz
From the office clown to the den mother to the mentor to the gossip, we all have a role to play in office dynamics. Where do your co-workers think you stand?
Do you ever hang out together outside of work?
Yes, I run a weekly get-together.
When it is a birthday party, yes.
Do you know their family's names?
Of course, and their birthdays
Yes, and their ages, birthdays, and favorite colors
Do you organize the birthdays and get well cards?
I pay for them, but do not organize them.
I don't - I know I should though.
Do you watch the clock?
I am first in and last out.
Only when there is no deadline to meet
Have you ever been promoted at work?
Constantly, I move office so much I'm like a nomad.
Do people come to you for work-related advice?
Only if they plan to do the opposite of what I say
Do you know the latest office gossip?
Do upset people cry on your shoulder?
Every time! My door is open.
No, I think they'd feel like I would judge them even though I would be sure to be nice - and then use it later.
Do people ask to have you on their team when there's a project?
Yes, but they don't listen to me much.
No, it's like being the nerd kid in middle school all over again - except this time I couldn't care less.
As far as you know, has anyone complained about you behind your back?
Not at all, I hear only good things.
I don't think so, I hope not anyway.
Yes but only things that are actually good, like how ambitious I am.
Has anyone complained about you to your face?
Yes, because they know I will take it on board and change.
They seem too intimidated to try.
Are you in any groups or schemes for management training or mentorship?
LOL no, that's extra work, silly.
Do you have a mentor?
No, I had one but we never hung out.
Do you mentor anyone else?
Only if they are super connected
I give them tricks to get out of doing any work, but otherwise no.
When a new person joins, are you the one who shows them around?
Do you try to go above and beyond?
When it is part of my plan, yes.
Which would you rather get used: the best idea, or your idea?
Do you speak a lot in meetings?
I'm sorry, I was on my phone. What was the question?
Are you the one whose meeting notes people like to look at later, even if it wasn't your job?
They want to, but I do not let them
Do you speak up if you see mildly naughty behavior like stealing printer paper?
I let them know I saw them in case I need a favor later, then I keep quiet.
No, that way they will cover for me.
Do you engage in said naughty behavior?
I used to but now I have too much money to need to.
In the break room, do you wash up your mug after you use it?
I wash whatever is there.
Not if there is no one to see me.
There are five people on the team and eight delicious sugary donuts in the box. What do you do?
I quarter all the donuts and then only eat half of one until everyone else is full.
I halve all the donuts, take three halves (my fair share), then if no one eats whatever is left when everyone has what they want, I take another half.
I eat one immediately so I can be ready for a second.
Have you ever brought cake or snacks to work for everyone?
Yes, when I want something.
No, though one time I brought an empty donut box and left it in the break room with a note from me, so they would all think I did that. Crafty!
Do you genuinely like your colleagues?
They are my little chickadees and I love them.
Some of them. Some are douches though.
Are you trusted to be in charge of the playlist when it's time to put the music on?
It's not about trust, it's about force of personality and making them do it my way.
Yes, but I never want to, that's work.
Have you ever violated the dress code?
No, I helped write it after all.
I only wear suits, so no.
Sure, I don't care, whatever is comfy.
Do your co-workers feel safe to friend you on social media?
Naturally - they know I like all their photos.
They would, but I don't - they might see how much time I spend on there.
Do you think you're secretly just a little bit smarter than everyone else at the office?
No, they are all special in their way.
Obviously, and they know it.
No and it bothers me not one bit!
What quality do you like in a co-worker?
Introducing me to people I can use.
Doing more than their fair share of work and not minding.
