About This Quiz
The Swahili word "safari" literally means "journey," and the modern term refers to a type of journey or expedition that is usually taken to observe animals, especially those in Africa. Long ago, a safari was a big-game hunt where people hunted Africa's "big five" animals (lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard and the rhinoceros), but has since been made illegal. Today, visitors from all over the world spend lots of money on these trips to photograph, hike and see these animals in their natural habitat.Â
These trips can last anywhere from 2 to 10 days depending on where you are and what kind of animals you want to see. A safari takes place on overland vehicles in the sweltering grasslands and jungles of Africa where many who have had the experience claim that no safari is complete without at least seeing zebras, lions, gorillas, cheetahs, and elephants just to name a few.Â
Which of the many animals that one can encounter on a safari are you? Will it be the king of the jungle, the majestic lion, will you be the wise elephant, the quick-thinking cheetah or the graceful giraffe? The only way to find out which one it is is to take this quiz!Â
