About This Quiz
The idea of an animal spirit guardian has serious pedigree. It appears throughout western spiritualism, where an animal appearing at a certain time was considered to have a particular meaning and to be sent to guide or mislead a person - this is why black cats are lucky unless they cross your path, in which case they are unlucky. Witches were even thought to be in touch with them.Â
The idea also features in Christianity and Islam in the form of angels who often come to earth to inform, judge, and sometimes smite deserving humans. It takes a certain form in some older religions where gods would disguise themselves as creatures to get information or guidance to humans.
Spirit animals also appear in some Native American and African traditions, though not in the cartoonish ways that are often portrayed in Hollywood-type depictions. Guardians, friends, or guides in animal forms are found in all sorts of literary traditions. Indeed, in Philip Pullman's trilogy, "His Dark Materials," based on "Paradise Lost," every character has a "daemon" which manifests as an animal and follows them wherever they go, offering protection and insight.
What spirit animal is out there protecting and guiding you? It's time to find out!
