The history of fairies is an old and mysterious one, since many of the stories about the wee folks were shared in the oral tradition long before they were ever written down. The ancient Celts had their beliefs but they could be found spread all across Europe from Germany to France to the Nordic countries and beyond. Even throughout Asia and Africa, there are tales of small, magical beings and beasts who are like humans but definitely not humans. Some stories paint them as benevolent spirits and others suggest they're angels fallen from Heaven, demonic spirits sent to lead humans astray and cause chaos and strife. Good or bad, there is no end to the myths and legends that surround them though, and they're something we're all very familiar with.
