Snow White holds the honor of being the very first Disney Princess. She showed up on film way back in 1937. Since then, many a strong character has joined the ranks, from Cinderella to Ariel to Belle and so many more. And while the classics are great characters, it's only in the last few years that Disney has embraced the idea that princesses that are more than damsels in distress. They can be the strong, powerful heroes of their own tales. And that's never been more present than in the movies of the last decade.

Films like "Moana" and "Brave" are about princesses, sure, but heroes at the same time. These modern princesses of the last decade are fully realized, well-rounded and true role models. Plus, they're super fun to watch.
