A demigod or demi-god is a minor deity who is the offspring of a god and a human. There are also stories of demigods who have come to be after attaining the divinity status after they have died. In many cultures, but more specifically the Greek and Roman, these demigods possessed special abilities or powers, some of which were similar to those of their godly parent. 

Some of the most popular demigods include Achilles - the hero of the Trojan War, Hercules the strong, Orion the great hunter, Perseus - the slayer of Medusa, Helen of Sparta the beautiful, Hippolyta - the queen of the Amazons, and twins Romulus and Remus who founded Rome. Many of them have been portrayed on the big screen and there are also those whom books were written about.
