The 1950s brought us the iconic "Lord of the Rings" (LOTR) trilogy that was written by J. R. R. Tolkien, a follow-up to his novel, "The Hobbit."  Director, Peter Jackson, turned the books into an award-winning series of movies in the early aughts. "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" broke records. It was nominated for 13 Oscars and went on to win four of them.
