Marvel Comics is an American comic book publisher founded in 1939 as Timely Publications.  The company was re-branded several times, and in 1961, the Marvel brand officially began. In that same year, they published their first comic book series, "The Fantastic Four," which was created by Jack Kirby, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. It was the beginning of a cultural romance with the wide world of superheros.

The company went on to produce over 100 characters for many different series, some of whom are still the most popular characters in the superhero universe to date. These include characters like the Hulk, Storm, Iron Man, Wolverine, Black Widow, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Ms. Marvel.
