In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the six Infinity Stones are powerful gems which when united, are capable of destroying everything from people to solar systems. According to the Collector in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie, the stones were formed from six singularities that transformed into six stones after the Big Bang. They each possess unique qualities and abilities and are each very powerful on their own.

In no particular order, the six stones include the Space Stone, also known as the Tesseract, which can open up wormholes in space allowing someone to trade between points in the universe. The Mind Stone, sometimes called the scepter, allows the user to control the minds of other people. 

There is also the Reality Stone, which can alter reality, while the Power Stone gives its holder immense power, the type that can wipe out planets. The fifth stone is the Time stone which can alter time either by rewinding or fast-forwarding it. The last stone, and arguably the most powerful one, is the Soul stone, which allows the user to control the souls of both the living and the dead.
