About This Quiz
Cartoons have come a long way since being illustrations in magazines, although some still are. But these once-drawings have now become animated fixtures on our television screens, since the early 20th century. Today, many of the cartoons that are around are remakes or have been inspired by what existed back in the day and a lot of them include the cartoons that existed in the 50s and 60s. But we're zooming in on one decade in particular. We want to take it almost 70 years back in the past and see if you remember some of the best cartoons of the 50s.Â
We're going to show you some clips of some really old fifties cartoons and it'll be your job to correctly guess their names. If that wasn't enough, we're also going to give you a few hints to help steer you in the right direction, you know, if you get lost for a bit.Â
So, come and take a fun trip with us down memory lane and see if you can figure out just which fifties cartoon is which in this really cool back in the day quiz. And don't worry, passing doesn't mean that you're old- it just means that you're a huge cartoon fan.Â
"The Huckleberry Hound Show" is a 1958 syndicated show which featured three segments starring Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, and Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks.
"Peabody's Improbable History" is an animated series centering a genius dog named Mr. Peabody who adopts an orphaned local boy called Sherman.
"The Woody Woodpecker Show" is a 30-minute television series depicting the antics of the titular character and other Walter Lantz characters including Chilly Willy.

"Snagglepuss" was created in 1959 by Hanna- Barbera. The cartoon evolves around a pink cougar who sports an upturned collar and a string tie – and has a huge desire to be a stage actor.
"Felix the Cat" is a 1958 adaptation of the silent film era funny animal cartoon character. The show ran for four seasons from 1958 to 1961.
"Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks" is a segment from "The Huckleberry Hound Show" starring twin mice Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks, an orange tuxedo cat.

"Fractured Fairy Tales" is a segment of "Rocky and Bullwinkle Show". The segment deals with familiar fairy tales, but with a different storyline and modern humor.
"Bozo: The World's Most Famous Clown" is a 1958 animated adaptation of the Bozo the Clown children's book series.
"The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends" is a 1959 series about the misadventures of a grey flying squirrel and a moose.

"Mighty Mouse Playhouse," which aired on CBS from 1955 to 1966, was an anthology series composed of animated short films starring the titular character, Mighty Mouse.
"The Quick Draw McGraw Show" is a Hanna-Barbera animated series about an anthropomorphic sheriff horse set in American Old West.
"Speedy Gonzales" is an animated short film about a speedy, Mexican mouse who attempts to feed other starving mice by stealing cheese from a factory guarded by Sylvester the Cat.

"The Gerald McBoing-Boing Show" is a series adaptation of the 1950 animated short film which centers around a little boy who speaks through sound effects rather than spoken words.
"Ivor the Engine" is a 1959 British stop-motion animated film which centers around the adventures of a small green locomotive and his friends.
"Tom Terrific," which was presented during the "Captain Kangaroo" children's show, was an animated series composed of several five-minute cartoons.

"Astro Boy" was a 1950s cartoon which ran for 16 years on television screens. It was adapted from the Japanese version, which was originally called "The Mighty Atom". The Japanese version was actually an illustrated anime which had 23 volumes.
"Auggie Doggie and Doggie Daddy" is a segment of "The Quick Draw McGraw Show" which revolves around the escapades of a dachshund father and son.
The original "Captain Kangaroo" took place in the Treasure House or the Captain's Place, where said Captain would talk to puppets and guests on his show. The cartoons were shorts made because of the success of the original show.

"Knighty Knight Bugs" is a 1958 Looney Tunes animated short film starring Bugs Bunny as a court jester for King Arthur who must retrieve a singing sword from Yosemite Sam.
"The Adventures of Spunky and Tadpole" is an animated show revolving around the escapades of a boy and his teddy bear who hunt down bad guys.
"Captain Pugwash" is a 1957 animated series adaptation based on the adventures of a fictional pirate of a British children's comic strips.

"Matty's Funday Funnies" is an animated compilation series which featured a variety of theatrical cartoons with characters such as Casper the Friendly Ghost.
"The Ruff and Reddy Show" is a Hanna-Barbera animated TV show about a brave and good-natured dog name Reddy and a smart and loyal cat named Ruff.
"The New Adventures of the Space Explorers" is a 1959 sequel release of the popular 1958 "Space Explorers" series.

"The Gumby Show", which aired from 1957 to 1969 is an animated television series about a green, humanoid clay figure.
"The Adventures of Paddy the Pelican" is a 1954 animated series composed of six shorts about the antics of a mischievous pelican.
"Noggin the Nog" is a British animated television series which centers around the simple, generous and modest King of the Northmen.

"Snooper and Blabber" is a segment of "The Quick Draw McGraw Show" starring a pair of cat and mouse detectives.
"Winky Dink and You" was a very popular children's show that was aired by CBS for your years during the 50s. The show starred a cartoon character named Winky Dink and his pet dog Woofer.
This show was a 50s short which was so successful that it won an Academy Award in 1955. It followed a near-sighted man named Mr. Magoo and his adventures to the movies, airplanes and various other locations.

"The Mickey Mouse Club" was a youth talent-oriented variety show that aired on ABC from 1955 to 1996. Mickey Mouse himself was the star of the show, appearing not only in cartoons but in openings and closing segments, too.
While not actually a cartoon, Ventriloquist cat was an animated movie which followed an alley cat being chased by a not-so-smart mutt. He gains powers of ventriloquism when he jumped into a box of magicians' props. He then tries to play pranks on the dog, all of which backfire.
Produced by Sam Singer, "Bucky and Pepito" followed two young boys who had adventures in the desert. This show was said to be among one of the worst animated shows in television history.

"A Rubovian Legend" is a 1955 British children's puppet series which follows the Royal Family in the fictional European country called Rubovia.
"Clutch Cargo" is an animated series about the adventurer Clutch Cargo, who is assigned to several perilous missions around the world.
"Capt'n Sailorbird" is an animated anthology TV show from the '50s. The show starred the titular character who introduced foreign language cartoons which were re-edited and dubbed into English.

"The Space Explorers" is the 1958 animated series version of the animated feature film of the same name.
"Colonel Bleep", which aired from 1957 to 1960, is an animated series about an alien who was sent to Earth to investigate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
"Hergé's Adventures of Tintin" is an animated adaptation of Hergé's popular comic book of the same name. The series ran for seven seasons from 1957 to 1964.
