In day to day life, we're really not making the most of the ideas of mascots. Sports teams have them and so do some businesses like fast food restaurants, but why is it only them? If you see the Phillie Phanatic out on the field during a ball game, you know the Phillies are either large, green birds or at least a group of people who want to have a good time. Likewise, if you see the lifeless eyes of the Burger King offering you a Whopper you're getting an idea of what Burger King is all about. But what do you have? Your words and your deeds? It could take hours for someone to build an opinion of you based on those things. Better to have a mascot handy who can speak volumes without ever saying a word.
