While many people may not believe this, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, and Durmstrang Institute for Magical Learning are not the only magical school in the world of Harry Potter. In total, there are 11 prestigious wizarding/ magical schools around the world, with a few on every major continent. Some of these are not so well known include Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the United States, Castelbruxo in Brazil, Uagadou School of Magic in Uganda and Mahoutokoro located on a volcanic island in Japan. 

Like Hogwarts, the schools usually accepted students from the country that they are based in, but there are also some who will take students from other countries based on how close it is to the school or region that they come from. There are also schools which accept students based on family lineage, birth status, intelligence and whether you have mastered you Animagi form.
