Car companies have to continually strive to impress us as drivers and consumers. Every year a new model comes out that has a little bit more to offer than the year before. Sometimes even a lot more. They'll have new features, cool innovations and a sleek new look, plus enhanced safety, performance and fuel-efficiency. It's the dance every automaker goes through, and they have to. If you slack off, someone else will drive into your spot and take over. There are literally tens of millions of drivers out there looking for a new ride all the time, so when the new year rolls around, there better be something good.
If you like to keep up to date on the world of cars, then no doubt you're all about the new 2020 Tesla Model 3 or the new Acura hybrid. But have you been paying attention to what manufacturers are charging for the new 2020s? Every year the price goes up just a little bit. So what's a ford Fusion going for next year? The starting price of a 2020 Toyota Camry is $24,295. That's the bare-bones model, of course. The Camry has been in production since 1982 but it's only been a mid-size car since 1991. Before that, it was only a compact.
The Buick Regal was introduced in 1973 and took a 7-year hiatus in 2004. The original run was a pretty substantially sized personal luxury car but the redesign and reboot made it into a mid-size car. You can get a 2020 for $25,370.
Introduced in 1992, the Nissan Altima goes for $24,100 for a 2020 model. The Altima is sort of the middle child of the Nissan line, a little smaller and less impressive than a Maxima but larger and more luxurious than a Sentra.

The BMW M340 is actually one of the most popular models heading into 2020 across the board. Reasonably priced, for a BMW, and getting 25 mpg it's a decent sedan that follows through on the BMW M-series power and performance.
The Hyundai Elantra is one of those cars that straddles compact and mid-size. It's generally listed as a compact outside the US but in the US, thanks to its spacious interior, it's classified as a mid-size car.
At $54,050, you can take home a Mercedes Benz-E-Class which is the best selling car in Mercedes-Benz history. They've been in production since 1953 and they'd racked up 13 million sales by 2015.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class only dates back to 1993 when it was introduced to replace the 190. If you're down for a C-Class in 2020 it'll cost you at least $41,400 to start things off. Of course, that's a base model ... and who buys a base model Mercedes?
A Honda Accord is costing you $23,870 for the base model in 2020. The Accord has been in production since 1976 when it was introduced as a compact car. By 1989, it had grown up into a mid-size car.
You can snag a Volvo S90 Hybrid for $63,200. The S90 has been around only since 2017 as a mid-size luxury sedan. There's also a full-size luxury version as well, but that's the S90L.

Chevy has been making Impalas since 1957. They were known as muscle cars back in the day and competed with the likes of the Ford Mustang or the Plymouth Road Runner, which is kind of ironic since in real life an impala is a rather graceful, medium-sized gazelle.
$39,900 will get you a Lexus ES 350, which not everyone knows is actually manufactured by Toyota. The ES model has been in production since 1989 and was one of the debut cars of the Lexus line.
The Subaru Legacy has been made since 1989. If you were to head to Australia to look for one, you'd have to drop the "Legacy" name and ask the dealer for a Subaru Liberty since that's the name they sport down under.

$53,900 will net you a shiny, new BMW 530. The 5-series of BMW has been in production since the early 1970s and is currently in its seventh design generation as of the year 2017. All of them have been called M-series since the second generation.
For $33,000, you can rock out in a 2020 Acura TLX. It's listed as a compact executive car in some materials as opposed to a mid-size car. What's a compact executive car? That's one that's bigger than a compact but smaller than an executive car. So, you know, a mid-size.
Chevy Malibu starts fairly affordable for 2020 at $22,095. The Malibu line has been around since 1964, though there was a sizeable gap in production between 1983 and 1997. Originally the Malibu was a Chevelle, but in 1978 it became its own nameplate.

The Audi A6 runs $54,900 for the basic package. The A6 has been around since 1994 when it replaced the Audi 100. You can also get it as a 5-door station wagon under the name Avant. They call those "estate wagons" in Europe.
Infiniti makes the Q50, which has been around since the 2014 production year. If you're down for a Q50 in Japan then you need to look for the V37 Nissan Skyline, which is how it's marketed there.
For $112,745 you can drive home an Audi RS6 Avant if you want to. What's the RS stand for? It's actually from the German word "RennSport," which means "racing sport." This one is Audi's top of the line trim model.

The Ford Fusion Hybrid starts at $28,000 and had its first model year in 2010. It's a gas-electric hybrid, but there's also a plug-in electric version of it as well if you want to drop gasoline altogether.
The Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat widebody is a lot of car, with a 707-horsepower engine that can get the car from 0 to 60 in about 3.6 seconds, assuming you need to get really far away really fast.
Tesla's Model 3 has an MSRP of $39,490 for 2020 for the very base model, though you can pay out a little extra to extend the range. Word is that base price will get you a solid 250-mile range, though, so that's not bad.

The Ford Fusion Energi is one of three Fusions that Ford produces along with the standard model and the hybrid. The Energi is a plug-in electric model. The price can be offset by tax credits that amount to nearly $4,000.
As a subcompact executive car, you could call the Audi A3 something on the smaller side of a midsize car. It costs $33,300 for a brand new one. They've been on the market since 1996.
The Kia Optima is costing you $23,190 for a 2020 model. The Optima has been sold since 2000, but it's used different nameplates in other countries. For instance, in Canada and Europe, it used to be called the Magentis.

The Ford Fusion is going to cost you $23,170 for the base, gasoline-powered model. You'll pay considerably more for the more fuel-efficient models like the hybrid or the electric, but maybe you'll save that money on fuel costs in the long run.
The Volvo S60 costs $36,050 and has been in production since the year 2000. It replaced the S70, making it one of those odd instances in which car models count down rather than up, for whatever reason.
For $27,800 you can snag a Toyota Camry Hybrid, which has been a pretty popular model since its introduction back in 2006. So far its best sales year was 2007 when the company sold 54,477 of them. In 2011, Toyota sold under 10,000, though.

The Maxima has been in production since 1980, but it was mostly known as the Datsun Maxima back then. It was also a compact car at the time as well. It didn't get upgraded to a midsize until 1988.
The Maserati Ghibli started out as a grand tourer then became an executive car, which is more or less a mid-size sedan. In case you're wondering it's not named after the Japanese animation studio run by Hayao Miyazaki. A ghibli is the name for a certain kind of wind in the Libyan desert.
The Volvo S60 Hybrid clocks in at $55,400. S60s used to be built in the US and also in China, but 2019 is the final year for Chinese production. S60s will be 100% American built for 2020 and beyond.

The hybrid version of the Lincoln MKZ is starting out at $42,500 and offers up about 41 mpg compared to the regular MKZ's 24. The hybrid was launched in 2001 as Lincoln's first hybrid ever and also its first 4-cylinder engine.
The XE has only been in production since 2015. It was the first Jaguar model to be built at the new Jaguar facility that the company built in Solihull in the UK. It got a 5/5 rating from Car and Driver, which is a great thing.
An Audi S6 is a lot like the A6 but it's the high-performance model, which is why you're shelling out $73,900 for it compared to the A6's base price of $54,900. That's a pretty significant increase, all things considered.

The 2019 Mazda 6 started at $23,800, but the 2020 increased the price to $24,920. Mazda played the list price for the sedan close to the vest, releasing the news of the increase very late in the season.
Cadillac's midsize offering is the CT5, with a sticker price of $36,895 for the base model. CT5 is a brand new model manufactured for the first time in 2019 for the 2020 model year, so there's not much to say about it other than it has a fastback styling.
A Lincoln MKZ costs $36,750 for 2020. The MKZ label dates back to 2007 but they existed before that as the Lincoln Zephyr for a single year in 2006. Lincoln dropped the Zephyr name in 2007 to emulate other luxury manufacturers that just went alphanumeric.

The Lexus GS 350 is running at $51,065. It's actually listed as an executive car but it's still not quite as big as a full-size and definitely not as small as a compact. In 1991, it was launched in Japan as the Aristo.
For $102,700 you can own a BMW M5, which is one of BMW's older models these days, dating back to 1984. Back in 1985, it was the fastest production sedan you could get anywhere.
The Lincoln Continental has been in production for a stunningly long time. The very first was made back in 1939 as a one-off for the president of Ford. Since then, it's been in production across nine whole decades. Not bad.

The Infiniti Q70 is expected to be released in early 2020 and priced around $50,400 but that hasn't been 100% confirmed yet as Infiniti is playing this one a little fast and loose and hasn't fully committed to details just yet.
